We are very pleased to present the exhibition Type One by German artist Tobias Hoffknecht in our Vienna gallery. On display are seven new, massive steel sculptures that structure the gallery space and give it a new interpretation.

The start of the exhibition coincides with the new, strict lockdown that has been in effect in Austria since November 22, 2021. However, the exhibition was conceived in advance by Tobias Hoffknecht to be visible from the street through the large windows and to create an overall spatial effect. It will therefore open as planned on December 4, 2021 at 6:00 pm and will be on view as a window exhibition until December 13, 2021. We cordially invite you to walk by the corner building Getreidemarkt 14/Eschenbachgasse 12 during this period and enjoy an art exhibition through the windows despite the lockdown. Especially in the evening after dark, Hoffknecht's solitary, colorful tube steel sculptures develop a special effect in interaction with the brightly lit space.

At the same time as the Window-Exhibition starts, you will have the opportunity to see the show from the inside via an online opening on our YouTube channel. The digital tour will be commented by Wilko Austermann, curator of the MMIII Kunstverein Mönchengladbach. To watch the online opening on December 4 at 6:00 pm, please click on this link.

Tobias Hoffknecht was born in 1987 in Bochum, Germany. He studied with Rosemarie Trockel at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and has since consistently devoted himself to sculpture. His works deal with the aesthetics of the Bauhaus under today's conditions. Objectivity and impact are his essential points of reference. With strict, clear steel structures he develops a consistent, unmistakable signature, which is characterized by the endeavor to reduce form and beauty to their pure, material core. In the exhibition Type One Hoffknecht applies different, sometimes garish colors to his sculptures for the first time - and thus adds another impressive aspect to the spectrum of his minimalist-brachial exploration of space and form.
